Punching above our weight and promoting social mobility

At Approachable Accountants, we always do our best for clients. Despite our small size, our commitment to doing a quality job, our combined breadth of experience and willingness to learn and work creatively means that we often punch way above our weight compared to other small accountancy firms. But another difference from many other accountants, is how we live by our values and “give back” to society.

It was a particular privilege this week, to attend the inaugural meeting of Access Accountancy, a new initiative driven by the ICAEW and the larger accounting firms in response to a challenge by Alan Milburn MP, for the profession to do more to promote social mobility. We are proud to be the first “small” firm to sign up for Access Accountancy, through which we will offer work experience to students from less advantaged backgrounds.

We are really proud to be listed fifth in the country after KPMG, PwC, EY and Grant Thornton on the Access Accountancy opportunities website.

If you know a student who could be the first in their family to go to university or who has qualified for free school meals, please do tell them about Access Accountancy.

There is a genuine will in the profession to help those from less privileged backgrounds to get into the world of business and gain valuable skills and qualifications. The biggest hurdle in providing work experience places is getting the message out to those who could benefit from the scheme.

If you know of a business or individual who needs tax or accountancy help, please do pass our details on as we are always keen to hear from new clients.
